Highlight Shaybee and Essence Astarte (usuals)

Highlight Shaybee and Essence Astarte (usuals)

A warm welcome to Essence Abyssinian website.

The name Essence was chosen for my Abyssinians because I wanted to develop and promote the “aby essence” rather than solely focusing on breeding for colour or type.

I have been breeding Abyssinians since I got my first Abyssinian queen Highlight Saba (usual silver) in 2006. She was going to have just the one litter….but then I got hooked! All my cats have Ethiopian names that reflect their character or appearance and usually new owners choose their own pet names as a second registered name.

Highlight Saba is now retired but I have 4 breeding queens from her breeding line:

  1. Highlight Habeba (tortie fawn silver)
  2. Essence Derneku (blue)
  3. Highlight Shaybee (usual)
  4. Essence Astarte (usual).

My queens go to stud with other breeders such as Highlight Abyssinians and Silversmoke Abyssinians  (see Stud Boys)

At first I focused on unusual colours, such as silvers, by using Highlight Abyssinian stud boys (Highlight Tobias – cream, Depussey Silver Cymbeline – fawn silver). Following the birth of Highlight Habeba who was only the second tortie fawn silver born in the UK, I wanted to develop type as well as colour so Silvermoke stud boys were introduced: Champion Makeitso Hawkeye Pierce (usual) and Grand Champion Silversmoke Bill Davison (sorrel).

Now I breed both unusual colours (cream, fawn, blue + silvers) as well as usuals and sorrels.

The kittens are usually born under my bed and kept in the home so they are well socialised with cats, dogs and people from an early age.  Essence kittens only go to special homes where I am sure they will be appropriately adored and cared for. I offer  lifetime support to all new owners and encourage Essence Abyssinian owners to contact me regularly with photos and updates.

I am based in London and Kent (Folkestone); kitten viewings can be arranged at either location. I am a member of Abyssinian Cat Club and the Abyssinian Cat Association and advertise as a breeder through both of these.
